Visiting Charleston for your Boudoir Session? Here's my Ideal Itinerary for a Charleston Girls Weekend Getaway!

I've had many clients from out of town fly in just to book with a session with me. I mean... we are located in a major vacation destination. Charleston, SC has been rated the #1 city in Travel & Leisure for 11 straight years in a row. There's no doubt that this is a beautiful city, and there is always something to do. So out of town ladies, are you thinking of booking with me and want to make a weekend out of it? Well, here are my Charleston must-do's to convince you to take your best girlfriends on a Charleston getaway.

Explore King Street & The Battery

You could easily spend days shopping through all the stores and boutiques on King Street. My favorite places that really capture that "southern charm" are Candlefish (where you can make your own Charleston scented candle), Savannah Bee Company (they offer homemade mead and honey tastings), and LoveShackFancy (a girly boutique perfect for a photo op and filled with the prettiest dresses).

Walk a little further down and you will reach Market Street and the Battery. The Charleston City Market is an open air market filled with an array of rotating local artisans and creatives. This stop is a must on any Charleston trip. They also have a night market every Friday and Saturday night March - September.

You can also take a stroll down East Bay Street and see the classic Charleston sights such as, Rainbow Row, the Pineapple Fountain, and Battery Park.

The Numerous Beaches

There are 4 main public beaches surrounding the peninsula of Charleston, and each have their own personality.

Isle of Palms: A fun beach with restaurants, bars, a fishing pier, and 6 miles of gorgeous beaches

Folly Beach: An eclectic beach popular with surfers, college students, and vacationers, with bars, restaurants, and gorgeous sunsets by the Morris Island Lighthouse.

Sullivans Island Beach: This is a relaxing, low key, family friendly, beach nestled in the heart of Sullivan's Island.

Kiawah Island Beach: There is only one beach available to the public (Beachwalker Park). and parking usually gets filled fast, but if you can get a spot this beach is stunning. I've personally found sand dollars and starfish along the Beachwalker coastline

The AMAZING Food

Charleston food is in a class of its own. There are some amazing classic southern style restaurants as well as amazing seafood. There are too many to name, but here are some of my favorites:

S.N.O.B - Slightly North of Broad has great brunch and yummy drinks. This is always a favorite for classic lowcountry cuisine.

5Church - The atmosphere here is unmatched. It is a restaurant in an old church. The food is delicious, but the wait can be ridiculous, so I recommend having a reservation or grabbing a seat at the bar.

Carmella's - The BEST dessert bar in heart of Charleston! Their boozy dessert drinks are delicious and there are always new baked goods and pastries on display.

Pink Cactus - Arguably the best margaritas and nachos downtown. You can get a pitcher of margs for the table and they have many different flavors to choose from!

Wild Olive - One of the best Italian restaurants in Charleston. It's located on the heart of John's Island and they locally source their products and it is absolutely delicious! The tiramisu is a must.

Hyman's Seafood - This restaurant is one of the most legendary places in Charleston. Since it's opening in 1890, this restaurant is constantly on "best of" lists again and again. With great service and delicious, fresh seafood, it's definitely worth the hype.

48 Wine Bar - A wine bar and restaurant with over 48 beer and wine options on tap! This is a lowkey bar located Freshfields on Kiawah Island and it is perfect for a lunch or dinner stop.

The Nightlife

Charleston has been voted as one of the nation's booziest cities. There are so many bars, breweries, and nightclubs in Charleston, that I can see why it has that rank! If you are into the nightlife scene, here are my favorite places to visit in Charleston:

Ladson HonkyTonk - Now this isn't in downtown Charleston, it is a line dancing bar a mere 25 minutes outside of the heart of downtown. This is a place where locals like to hang out, dance and avoid the huge tourist crowds of downtown!

Bangkok Lounge - A fun and rowdy karaoke bar. The energy here is always unmatched.

The Cocktail Club - Unique and tasty cocktails in a speakeasy style bar. There is usually great live music and DJs here on the weekends. This a lowkey bar, and a great place to meet new people and socialize!

Shem Creek - Mount Pleasant locals usually go to Shem Creek when they want a night out. There are 3 bars right on this tiny dockside creek. It is easy to bar hop on Shem Creek and there are some great sunset views here.

A Girls Trip MUST

Now I might be biased because I work with these amazing women, but if you are in Charleston on your girls or bachelorette trip, you have to book a Pole Dance Party with Inversions Pole Fitness! You'll learn pole spins and dances and have one giant pole party with your girls. It seriously is so much fun. Inversions is a perfect way to start your girls night out. Make sure to request Samantha as your party instructor for me to be your personal hype girl.

There is a little bit of everything in Charleston. City life, beach life, and everything in between and that's why it's loved by so many people. So if you are thinking about booking your boudoir session with me in Charleston, just DO IT and make a whole weekend out of it! Bring your besties along for the ride. It will be some of the most fun you will have, guaranteed.
